Job Summary: As a Planner/Dispatcher in the field of transportation, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products or services. Your responsibilities will encompass route planning, scheduling, and communication with drivers and other stakeholders to achieve seamless logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Route Planning:
• Develop optimal routes for transportation vehicles based on factors such as distance, traffic conditions, and delivery schedules.
• Consider cost-effective and time-efficient solutions while planning routes.
Dispatching:
• Effectively dispatch drivers and vehicles, providing clear instructions and information regarding routes, delivery times, and special instructions.
• Monitor and communicate changes in schedules or routes promptly to drivers and internal teams.
Communication:
• Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, addressing queries, concerns, and providing real-time support.
• Collaborate with various departments, including customer service, to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
Monitoring and Reporting:
• Utilize tracking systems and technologies to monitor the progress of transportation activities.
• Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, fuel efficiency, and route optimization.
Problem Resolution:
• Proactively identify and address challenges or issues related to transportation, including delays, breakdowns, or changes in customer requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the team to find solutions and minimize disruptions to the transportation process.
Compliance:
• Ensure that all transportation activities adhere to relevant regulations and compliance standards.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
Technology Utilization:
• Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software to streamline planning and dispatching processes.
Qualifications:
• Experience in transportation planning and dispatching roles is preferred
